BIOGRAPHY

It really is one hell of a story. Two brothers, hailing from the sleepy town of Willebroek in Belgium, rising through the hard-fought over ranks of the EDM elite, conquering the planet’s biggest festivals and dance floors and releasing some of the most successful, chart-topping releases in recent history. For Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike, now cemented in the pantheon of electronic greats with a #6 position in the 2013 DJ Mag Top 100, five Beatport #1 hits this year alone, an incredible 2 million+ fans on Facebook, their hit ‘Smash The House Radio’ show and their debut 20,000 capacity arena showcase ‘Bringing Home The Madness’ selling out in under 24 hours, the world is now absolutely at their feet.

The pair, with their electrifying live combination of DJ sets and crowd-busting MCing, have become one of the most in demand acts with promoters and fans alike. As 2013 opened its doors on the global EDM community, the signs were clear that the ensuing 12 months would turn out to be their most successful yet. In March, the brothers scooped the hotly contested ‘Breakthrough Act’ award at the 2013 International Dance Music Awards (IMDAs). Within days, the celebrations continued as their huge fan favourite ‘Wakanda’ swept to the Beatport #2 position and was confirmed as the most played track of Miami Music Week. Before the dust even had time to settle, their MOGUAI collaboration ‘Mammoth’ finally secured them their first ever Beatport #1, reigning at the top for an incredible FOUR weeks, dominating global music charts, securing ‘Track Of The Month’ on tastemaker site Dancing Astronaut and finally bagging a prized Gold Record. Just weeks later and ‘Turn It Up’, co-produced with US duo GTA and Smash The House imprint protégés Wolfpack, became their second #1, followed swiftly by ‘Chattahoochee’ (the official Tomorrowland 2013 Anthem), ‘Project T’ with Sander van Doorn and ‘Ocarina’ (the inaugural TomorrowWorld Anthem and one of the most highly anticipated tracks since its debut on the huge Tomorrowland 2012 After Movie – 95 million views and counting!). Track after track, release after release, label after label – Dim Mak Records (including Aoki collaborations ‘Phat Brahms' and 'Madness'), Musical Freedom, Spinnin’ Records, Size Records, Axtone, Doorn Records, Wall Recordings and more – Dimitri and Mike demonstrated their huge dominance over the international scene with comparative ease.

It’s not just in the charts where the brothers have made an indelible mark. With a touring schedule that makes the JFK Airport departure board look like it’s having a slow day, the pair are in constant demand around the world, week in, week out. From legendary clubs like Pacha Ibiza and NYC and Mansion in Miami, to London’s Ministry of Sound and Brazil’s epic Green Valley, to their huge residency at the incredible LIGHT venue in Las Vegas, the boys continually create sell-out events wherever they touch down. The bigger the event, the better – Mysteryland, Nocturnal Wonderland, Electric Daisy Carnival, Creamfields, Electric Zoo, Beatpatrol, Ultra Music Festival, XXXperience, Touch The Air and many, many more festivals have seen their billboards illuminated by the name of Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike. Yet of all the events Dimitri and Mike bring their act to, it is with the critically acclaimed Tomorrowland and its new international sister edition TomorrowWorld that they are most closely affiliated. Enjoying a wildly successful partnership that stretches back over the past five years, Dimitri and Mike were bought on board by organisers ID&T after the seasoned industry veterans were blown away by the natural power of the brothers’ debut performance. Since 2010 the boys have been responsible for creating the festival’s musical centrepiece, the much-celebrated Tomorrowland Anthem, and each year have taken the task to greater heights – the collaborative dynamite of Dada Life and Tara McDonald with ‘Give Into The Night (Tomorrow)’; the 2011 Beatport-topping Afrojack and NERVO co-production ‘The Way We See The World’; the 2012 solo track ‘Tomorrow Changed Today’, which made history as the first ever non-Avicii release on the LE7ELS label and struck immediate chart gold; and this year’s Beatport topping ‘Chattahoochee’ and ‘Ocarina’.

With a raft of huge new releases lined up for the coming months including collaborations with Steve Aoki, Steve Angello, Fedde Le Grand, Tiesto and many more, plus world tours across the Winter and through into Spring, this is a story that continues to gather staggering momentum and surely only leaves fans asking, what on earth is next for this incredible talent?
